Email is the contact route for everything: corrections, station mappings, cam operators, press, and formal legal notices. There is no phone line and no contact form — a single address that is actually read beats three that are not. Typical reply time is a few business days.
Responsible for the content
Christoph Ballmer — Builds and checks BreakAtlas. Editorial responsibility for every page on this site, including the safety wording, sits with one named person rather than an anonymous desk. Background, verifiable profiles and the four rules the data follows are on the About page.
What this site is
BreakAtlas publishes daily surf and beach condition reports for US spots, built from public data held by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service (NWS). It is an independent editorial project. It is affiliated with no government agency, no forecasting service and no surf brand, and it speaks for none of them.
Where a reading is a measurement, the page names the station and the time. Where a value comes from a model, the page labels it as a model. Where a source is silent, the page shows a gap. That is the whole editorial method, and it is the reason this project can put a name on the door.
Sister sites
The same operator runs several data-driven reference sites. They share the engine and the editorial rules, and each has its own legal pages:
- howsthebite.com — daily US water and fishing reports from the same NOAA and USGS stack
- angelpuls.de — German fishing portal
- angelpuls.ch — Swiss edition
Jurisdiction and dispute resolution
Honeygoat GmbH is a Swiss limited liability company. Anything about how the site may be used, which law applies and where disputes are heard is set out in the Terms of Use. Your rights over your personal data, including the requests you can make under US state privacy laws and the GDPR, are in the Privacy Policy.
As a Swiss company, Honeygoat GmbH takes part in no consumer arbitration board proceedings under EU Regulation 524/2013, and the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued in July 2025. Write to the address above and the matter gets handled directly.
Liability and copyright in brief
The detail lives on two dedicated pages, because both matter enough to be found on their own: the limits of what the data can promise are in the safety and data disclaimer, and what may be copied, reused or taken down is in the copyright and DMCA policy.
